Controller and contact

Holy Mary 24/7 is the data controller for the project. For privacy and personal data matters, contact us through the form in the app or write to admin@holymary247.com.

What data we process

  • Your nickname, device identifier and basic app settings.
  • Activity in the prayer room: joining a slot, presence, time spent, reactions and intentions in the chat.
  • Aggregate prayer statistics: the number of people, intentions and reactions, and the average time spent in a given slot.
  • Your push subscription identifier and chosen notification times, if you turn notifications on.
  • Technical data needed for security, diagnostics and protecting the admin panel.
  • Payment information returned by Stripe after a verified donation.
  • The content of messages sent through the contact form.
  • Sign-in account data handled by Clerk for features that require an account (the novena and — once you sign in — a copy of your pilgrimage in your account).
  • Spiritual pilgrimage data: an approximate starting point, the chosen sanctuary, distances covered with their dates, and an optional intention.
  • Your chosen app language, stored for one year in the holymary_locale cookie solely to show the app in that language. Without a saved choice, we use your browser’s language settings.

Why we use data

Data is used to keep shared prayer running in real time, remember your settings, send reminders, handle donations, reply to messages and protect the app against abuse.

Statistics help us understand how many people use the app, which prayer times are the most active and how many intentions appear in each slot.

Intentions written in the chat are visible to the participants of that prayer and may be moderated by the administrator. Don’t post other people’s sensitive data there without their consent.

The novena notebook is stored only on your device (IndexedDB), encrypted with an AES-GCM key that the browser does not allow to be exported. The notes are not sent to Convex, the admin panel or analytics tools. The project administrator has no access to these entries.

Spiritual pilgrimage and location

While measuring, the app reads your GPS position only to calculate the distance covered on your device. We do not store or send your exact position or the track of your route — only distances and activity dates are saved.

The starting point (“My area” or a town you type in) is rounded to about 1 km before it is saved. The pilgrimage is kept in the browser’s storage (localStorage) on this device and works without an account.

Mapbox receives: requests for map tiles, the rounded starting point and the sanctuary’s coordinates (to plan the route), the town name you type (for suggestions) and the virtual progress point on the route (for the line “In spirit, you are near…”) — never your real position from the measurement.

Once you sign in, the app can save a copy of your pilgrimage in your account (Convex): the rounded start, the destination, distances covered, your plan and your intention, if you enter one. This makes the pilgrimage available on your other devices too.

External services

  • Convex stores the app’s data and handles real-time communication.
  • Vercel hosts the app and may process technical request logs.
  • Stripe handles voluntary donations and payments.
  • OneSignal handles web push if you turn notifications on.
  • Resend sends the messages from the contact form.
  • Clerk handles registration and sign-in for account features.
  • Mapbox provides the maps, routes and town search for the pilgrimage.
  • Vercel Analytics collects anonymous page visit statistics, without tracking cookies.

Storage and your rights

We keep data only as long as it is needed to run the app, for security, to account for donations or to handle your message. You can ask for access to your data, its rectification, erasure or restriction of processing.

Chat messages are cleared after the prayer ends or during technical clean-up, while pseudonymous participation statistics may be kept longer as the app’s activity history.

You can withdraw consent to notifications in your browser settings or in the app. Donations are voluntary and are not a condition for taking part in the prayer.

You can delete pilgrimage data on this device in your Profile (“Delete pilgrimage data”). You can also ask us through the contact form to delete the copy saved in your account. You can delete the novena notebook with the “Delete the notebook from this device” button on the novena screen.

Local novena notes and a pilgrimage saved only on your device cannot be recovered after clearing browser data, losing the device or deleting them in the app.

This is a basic version of the policy for the product’s first release. Before a broad public launch, it should be legally reviewed for the final organisational model.
